Would you like to work within a dynamic, close-knit team, committed to achieving high level outcomes?

If the answer is yes, this could be the job for you!

Who we are

inhousing is an innovative social enterprise dedicated to supporting people with disability to access safe, appropriate, and inclusive housing. We believe that good housing is foundational to a good life, and our approach centers on tenant choice, control, and community connection. Our growing portfolio of homes is designed to empower tenants and foster genuine inclusion in ordinary, community life.

Our work spans intake, tenancy management, maintenance, renewal, construction, quality and inclusion. We’re also home to Stretchy Tech, a team that delivers life-changing outcomes through inclusive mainstream technologies, supporting people with disability to live with greater independence, dignity, and freedom, both at home and in the broader community.

Who we’re looking for

We are currently seeking a Housing Allocations Officer to join our team. This role is responsible for managing housing enquiries, assessing eligibility, and supporting individuals through the intake process to access appropriate housing options.

You will have experience in the housing intake process, a naturally helpful nature and a history of providing outstanding customer service. As the first point of contact for people with housing queries, your friendly disposition will warmly welcome people to the business.

Our ideal candidate will have great communication skills and will be able to relate to our customers and their families in a respectful way. You will be able to work within a team and contribute to a positive culture.

The successful applicant will have strong values in social justice and the rights of people with disability. You will thrive working with a team of passionate, like-minded people.

What you will be doing

  • Assess applicant eligibility for housing based on program type criteria in line with the Community Housing Eligibility Policy
  • Collaborate with teams across inhousing including tenancy, maintenance, and construction to coordinate property availability and ensure appropriate housing matches.
  • Coordinate and participate in interviews with applicants to understand their housing needs, preferences, and support requirements.
  • Allocate housing vacancies with a focus on tenant preferences and wellbeing, long-term suitability and vacancy efficiencies.
  • Identify and document any support needs that may assist tenants in maintaining successful and stable housing.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in internal systems and government housing databases.
  • Prepare and provide reports as required, ensuring accuracy and alignment with compliance obligations.
  • Work collaboratively across the inhousing team, contributing to shared goals and supporting other areas of the business as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • The following attributes will be highly regarded:
    • Experience in using the Single Housing Register
    • Knowledge of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
    • Personal insight of what it means to have a disability

We value self-starters who are driven to achieve great outcomes for our clients. If this sounds like you, and if you are a team player with an inquisitive and can-do mindset, we are keen to hear from you.

We are offering ongoing work and can be flexible on work hours. This role is based in our office in Unley.

Why work for us?

  • As a registered not for profit organisation, we offer full salary sacrifice benefits to our employees
  • A genuine commitment to work / life balance for our employees
  • We offer meaningful work with a sense of purpose – this is more than ‘just a job’
